I’ve gone off on a collecting tangent lately into the muddy world of construction vehicles at least in 1:50 scale.
The variety of weird, wonderous and sometimes prehistoric looking machines and contraptions is endless and you might be surprised to learn they are not all yellow!
The two blue and white Fuchs Hydraulic Excavators shown below are by the German company NZG Modelle who have been making good quality models of construction vehicles as well as cars, buses and trucks since 1968. They are relative newcomers compared to Fuchs who have been making full size machines since 1888.
These construction models are just as pleasing as regular car models if not more so as they have more display potential with their movable arms and other features.
You could add a little reality to your display cabinet of Dinky cars by having a small backhoe digging the road up with some temporary traffic lights and six luminous orange clad people standing around doing nothing!
Are you a construction diecast collector? Let us know about your collection- how many? When you started collecting? Any collecting tips? We’d love to hear from you – leave your comments in the box at the bottom of the page.
